Thiruvanthapuram: The capital of Kerala is famous for traditional palaces, art galleries and the famous Padmanabaswamy Temple. The Thiruvanthapuram Railway Station has access from all parts of the country.
Kumarakom: A very popular tourist destination, Kumarakom is situated on Vambanad Lake in Kottayam District in Kerala. The Kumarakom backwaters (considered as the most beautiful backwaters in kerala, the Kumarakom lake resorts and the houseboat trips attracts lots of tourists to this place. Apart from this there is a 14 acre bird sanctuary, which is a another atrraction. To get to Kumarakom, you have to travel by rail to Kottayam, and from there you need to travel only around 16 kms by road.
Munnar: Munnar is another tourist attraction, a hill station located at a height of 1600 meters above sea level. The waterfalls and trekking paths attract many adventurous tourists. To get to Munnar by rail, you have to alight in either Kochi or Kottayam and travel for about 5 – 5.5 hours by car or bus.

Kovalam Beach: Kovalam, with its soothing breeze, soft sand and composite climate, is a very popular beach in Kerala, attracting a many beach lovers. Known as the ‘Paradise of the Soouth’, to reach here, you have to travel by rail to Thiruvananthapuram station and travel from there to Kovalam.

Alleppey: Alleppey is a beautiful place famous for Houseboats cruise. These cruises are an experience you should never miss. The backwaters ride is a thrilling and relaxing experience, floating on the river lined with coconut tress and tiny villages. You can enjoy short cruises and overnight cruises. Another exciting attraction in Alleppey is the Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race, which takes place in the month of Auguest every year. Alleppy can be reached directly by rail.
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary: An excellent and interesting sanctuary, famous for its fauna and flora. Spread across 777 sq km, you can enjoy lake cruises, elephant rides and make hiking trips inside the forest. To reach this destination by rail, you have to travel to Ernakulam or Kottayam railway station.
Kannur: Kannur is another tourist attraction, because of its rich history and a place for colorful folk art and music. The St. Angelos Fort, The Thalassery Fort and the Payyambalam Beach are worth seeing. Kannur is famous for the Parassinikadavu Snake Park. To reach Kannur by rail, you have to alight in Kannur Junction.
Thrissur: Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala, is very famous for the Thrissur Pooram the most spectacular festival of Kerala. The famous Krishna Temple, Guruvayur is close to Thrissur, and you have direct rail access to Thrissur, by alighting in Thrissur Railway Station.
Palakkad: Palakkad is known as the Gateway to Kerala. It is famous for the Kalpathy Car Festival, and interesting places to visit are the Malampuzha Gardens, Neliampathi, Sailent Valley and Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. The Plalakkad district is well connected by two railway stations.
Kozhikode: This district has a lot many temples and beaches, and is famous for the Kozhikoden Halva ( a sweet ), and Banana chips. The Kappad Beach is famous the world over ever since Vasco Da Gama landed here.
