Google has a new product for you - Google Transliteration IME – Mind you,this is not the same as translation – it is the sound of the words that is converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning and converted content will always be in Unicode.

Google Transliteration Chrome extension

A Google Transliteration Chrome extension developed by Mr.Arun Chittur is available here

You can use this extension with the Chrome Beta.  Either you Download the Beta Channel of Google Chrome to install extensions or just go to the “settings” menu and click on “about google chrome” – update to the latest and restart the chrome browser.

Once you finish the above steps, visit this link “Google Transliteration Chrome extension” and install the extension

Recently we got a Firefox plugin – Google Indic Transliteration 1.0.4 developed by sridhar. Using this Mozilla Firefox plug in, one can easily transliterate* with out leaving the webpage.

* ( Transliteration is the practice of transcribing a word or text written in one writing system into another writing system or system of rules for such practice.)

 2 easy ways to Transliterate  English to Malayalam – very easy

You love to

chat and write emails in Malayalam?

Then follow either or both of these steps in order to  equip yourself to be able to write in Malayalam while chatting and emailing . To use all these, I recommend using Gmail ( for emailing )  and Gtalk ( for chatting )  .

In case you don’t have a Gmail ID, you can create it from here.

Google’s transliteration bots with Gtalk

  • Login to your Gtalk client using your Gmail or Google ID
