The highly anticipated Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) rank list for 2023 was released by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala. This list, a prominent yardstick for admission into various professional degree courses, marks the culmination of hard work, diligence, and dedication for countless students across the state. Here’s an overview of the recently published list and what it means for students aspiring to secure admission into their preferred courses.
Unpacking the KEAM Rank List 2023
The KEAM 2023 rank list provides the scores of all the students who participated in the examination, arranged in descending order. The primary purpose of this list is to allow colleges to make informed decisions about admissions, ensuring transparency and equity.
The KEAM rank list 2023 was compiled based on the candidates’ performance in the KEAM 2023 examination (which holds 50% weightage) and the grades obtained in their qualifying examination (which carries the remaining 50% weightage). This balanced approach ensures that both the competitive exam and the students’ academic performance contribute equally to their ranking.
Highlights and Toppers
Every year, the release of the KEAM rank list brings forth stories of academic triumphs, and 2023 was no different. The rank list highlighted exceptional performances across the state, showcasing the cream of the crop of Kerala’s student community. Although it is crucial to remember that each student who participated in this competitive examination deserves applause, special recognition goes to the high-rank achievers.
Sanjai P Mallar from Kannur and Ashik Stenny from Kottayam achieved first and second ranks respectively in the test for admission to state engineering colleges, with Fredie George Robin, another Kottayam native, securing the third rank. The result was announced on Monday by the Higher Education Minister, R Bindu. Out of a total score of 600, the first, second and third rank holders scored 583.6440, 575.7034, and 572.7548, respectively.
Chethana S J from Pathanamthitta topped the SC category with a score of 441.7023, while the first rank in the ST category was clinched by Eden Vinu John, who scored 387.5987. Out of the top 10 ranks, nine were secured by boys.
A total of 80,999 candidates applied for the entrance test, out of which 49,671 made it to the rank list of candidates eligible for admission into B. Tech courses. The list comprises 24,325 female candidates and 25,346 male candidates.
Among the top 5,000 positions, 2,043 students were from the Kerala higher secondary course, 2,790 were from the CBSE stream, and 133 were from the ISCE. In terms of representation in the top 1,000 scorers, Ernakulam (154) and Thiruvananthapuram (135) had the most candidates, while Idukki (7) and Wayanad (13) had the least.
In the top 100 ranks, male students secured 83 positions. Ernakulam (23), Kozhikode (14), and Kollam (10) had the highest number of students achieving ranks within the top 100.
The entrance score is determined by combining the scores from the entrance test and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. The test took place on May 17 across 339 centres. The minister announced that the results for pharmacy entrance and architecture entrance tests would be released later.
Next Steps for Aspiring Students
With the release of the KEAM rank list 2023, the next phase for students is the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP). This online system will facilitate the submission and processing of options for courses and colleges according to the candidates’ preferences and their KEAM 2023 rank.
Candidates should stay updated with the CAP schedule, meticulously fill out their course and college preferences, and regularly check the KEAM website for seat allotment updates.
