Four Unique Ways for the Pet Portrait Artist to Stand Out
The warm feelings are flowing all around when the pet lover sees her commissioned portrait of her beloved dog or cat for the first time. Would you like the love to last even longer and reward you above the standard commission fee? If so, consider these ideas: When contracting with the pet lover for the commission, offer extras for a set additional fee. For instance: 1. Offer sale of your original sketches of their pet, or the draft that you worked from for the finished portrait. 2. If you mat the piece, offer a remarque, a bit of original work on the mat--possibly a simple line rendering of the subject in the portrait or of their pet's favorite toys or pastime. 3. Offer to take a quality photo of the piece, from which you print note cards for the pet owner. 4. If you commission pet photography, offer a matted collage or a small album of all of the proof size photographs in addition to the finished piece. Offer these options prior to creating the work, but if the buyers refuses, don't forget to offer them a second opportunity to purchase them when you finish the piece. At that time, they are often so pleased with the result that they are grateful to have the opportunity to own these sentimental additions to the finished piece. I've listed just a few ideas to get you started. Now come up with even more artistic ideas of your own! The author has worked with dogs and cats and their people for two decades. Optimize Your Photos for the Web It doesn't matter if your emailing photos of your grandson or putting images of your latest product on your online store. Too many people don't consider optimizing their photos for the web. Digital Camera Basics Digital Camera Basics? The VocabularyShopping for a digital camera can be a difficult task considering the sheer number of choices out there. The number of manufacturers, models, and price ranges that need to be sorted out make the process difficult enough, but throw in all the buzz-words that need to be understood, and even a short list of cameras can become difficult to analyze. How Can I Preserve My Lifetime of Memories in Photographs? Like most folks you have probably have organized and sorted your photos atleast once. How to Photograph Your Baby Babies make the best and the worst subjects to photograph. They are the best for two reasons, people are more tolerant at looking at baby photos, as well as the fact that babies are not aware their image is being captured, and therefore they do not tend to put on the "camera face" so typically used by elder children and adults. Sepia Toned Prints from Your Colour or Black and White Photos - 5 Minute Digital Fix Quite often I will have clients bring in old photographs of their "elder" relatives that were taken before colour photography was around. This generally means that the photos in question are either black and white or, in many cases, the photos have been tinted, usually a muddy brown colour better known as Sepia. Help! My Old Colour Photo has Turned Pink - 5 Minute Digital Fix Almost all of us will have seen this particular photographic problem, namely, your old colour photographs appear to have taken on an overall pink or blue tint. This is primarily due to the chemicals within the various layers of the photographic paper starting to breakdown, often due to age, and the way that the photographs have been stored. Crooked Horizons in Your Photos? - Here is a Five Minute Digital Fix Remember the good old photography days?Film camera in hand, you would see that perfect landscape, seascape or sunset and shoot off several shots.Perhaps a couple of weeks later, once you had returned home and finally finished that 24 or 36 exposure film, it was off to the photo-lab to get the film processed. Digital Camera Batteries Every device needs a driving force to operate, just as every living thing needs a heart to keep it alive! Basically electric power does this job for any kind of devices nowadays.
