Reach Your Goals - Using Eastern Wisdom
Take a page from Eastern wisdom Meditation, martial arts that focus on disciplining the mind as well as the body, and chi-releasing massage and yoga can all help you reach your goals by clearing your mind, teaching you how to block out distractions, and showing you how to deal effectively with obstacles. The disciplines of Eastern mind-body arts are a great help when stress or outside influences threaten your progress, and the meditative mindset helps keep the link between the sub-conscious and conscious mind open, streamlining the flow of creativity and flexibility and promoting the intelligent use of internal resources - and, not incidentally, short circuiting some of the resistance and negative self-talk that often create failure where there was none before. Following a regimen of meditation and mind-body-spirit exercises also has a tendency to bring up old, suppressed issues and emotions that could be blocking forward movement without you even realizing it. Just think of these issues as psychological and emotional computer viruses lurking in your "hard drive", quietly and invisibly throwing all sorts of otherwise normal functions off kilter, sometimes dangerously, and even protecting themselves by creating negative thought patterns which not only prevent you from removing them, but which prevent you from even seeing them in the first place. Yoga, meditation, deep prayer, hypnotic chants and other reflective practices are sort of like virus scanners that can root out such problems, bring them to the surface and isolate them more or less safely in a "quarantine" of conscious awareness where you can study them and their effects, and then get rid of them, in your own time. (c) Soni Pitts ABOUT THE AUTHOR Soni Pitts is the Chief Visionary Butt-Kicker of SoniPitts.Com. Success Is Easy, But So Is Neglect People often ask me how I became successful in that six-year period of time while many of the people I knew did not. Falling Up the Stairs There have been a lot of really good movies made over the last several years. There are a lot of bad ones too. And while I try to simply ignore the bad efforts, I like to take lessons from those which have profound messages to share. Among the more noticeable movies I have seen lately, have been the Matrix movies. And, while I don't like everything about the series, I have been totally fascinated by the philosophical questions they have posed. The Seven Cs of Success Get ready to sail the Seven C's - the Seven C's of Success that is. Get on board and ride this ship to your destiny! There are Seven C's you must sail if you want to be a total success. Here they are, in alphabetical order: From Rags To Riches Nicholas Darvas, escaping his war-torn homeland, Hungary, sought refuge in Turkey in June 1943. In Istanbul, however, he faced a new crisis. Now, he had no friends, no money, no knowledge of Turkish, and no citizenship. He risked starvation. He also risked losing his sense of being special. He didn't want to be poor and hungry for the rest of his life. No, he had fonder hopes for himself. He wanted to thrive. He wanted to be an outrageous success. Moving to the Other Side of Box Few books have impacted my perspective on human psychologically and behavior. A little over a year ago I read a book by Dr. Martin Seligman called, "Learned Optimism". Seligman was intrigued by an experiment he had witnessed involving dogs who exhibited inexplicable behaviors. His curiosity led him to create the "Shuttle box" experiment. Without going into great detail, the two-phased experiment went along these lines. The American Dream Model The present model of business and career motivation, the one most closely associated with the "American Dream" which emphases enterpreuneurship, individual achievement, competition, and domination has been around for at least the last 50 years . Up to the mid 20th century, the predominant prosperity model was the Calvinist work ethic originally derived from the Puritan. The Calvinist work ethic emphasized hard work, saving for the future, and foregoing vacations, paying bills in cash, and foregoing luxuries to save for a rainy day. On the other, the motivation for moneymaking is no longer saving for the future, but, what Thornstein Veblen, the famous 19th century economist characterized as "conspicuous consumption." Luxury homes, luxury cars, fancy electronic gadgets, and exotic vacations create the illusion of wealth. The philosophy of the Amway Corporation, now known as Quixtel in the U. S. is a good illustration of the concepts involved. Promethean Hispanic Fire In the Greek tale of creation, a Titan (Greek god) by the name of Epimetheus is given the task of creating living creatures. He screws the job up by giving all the good DNA and survival mechanisms to the animals. When it came time to creating man he had nothing left but soft skin and weak limbs. Keeping Your Mind Tuned for Success Absolutely no one can underestimate the power of the mind and its role in our success! It is imperative to keep our minds right and on the right track if we are to achieve balanced success in our career, finances, health, emotions, relationships and spiritual lives. The True Key to Prosperity To have a high probability of becoming prosperous, you have to start with one very important decision! The Characteristics of a Winner As kind of a hobby I like to watch people. Just kind of sit back and quietly watch how they react and respond to others and their environment. Through the course of this activity I've noticed a few things that the real winners in life seem to have in common. I'd like to point out a few of these characteristics for the purpose of reinforcing them. + Persistence = "Never, never, never give up; never give up, never!." - Winston Churchill Paying Attention Being a spiritual teacher has continually frightened me. Not because I don't want to do it but that I don't feel adequate for the job. And yet, the role unwittingly is engaged by me as I seek out truths for our lives, who we are, what we're here to do, and other such questions. Private Effort Means Success In Public If we eat too much at home, the public eventually will notice that our stomach sticks out like a balloon wrapped in clothes. If we drink too much in private our nose gradually turns red and becomes a warning beacon for others. How to be Congruent and Experience Balance Every Day. "If you can tell the world who you are and what you believe without breaking stride or hesitating, you are happy with yourself." - Neale Donald Walsche How to Make Your Wildest Dreams a Reality According to Bill Gates there are 3 keys to success in any new venture: Emerging As Winners! People like to emerge as winners by hook or crook and this is what one gets landed up in. It is human nature to desire to become rich, powerful, popular and famous always and forever. On the surface, it appears that we are competing with everyone else in this world and running a never-ending rat race. It is natural for all human beings to desire and work for wealth, power and prestige. Jesus Christ and Buddha and many others emerged as winners in the sense their preachings enriched people in the spiritual sense. People like Bill Gates or Jamshedji Tata, Godraj emerged as winners because they established business which catered to the needs of others. Try Honesty as a System of Trust, Success Will Follow Trust is a cornerstone of human existence. It is interesting to note that, in the world of commerce, the really huge transactions are generally initiated on trust. And certainly in daily life our existence is made easier, more fruitful and rewarding through trust! The Story of Big Jim The power went out. Again! The Honor Roll of Life All too often, people pursue a vision of material success at the expense of the other aspects of their beingness. In fact, our current culture is so plagued with this narrowness of vision, so focused on the material, that the soul of our society is in danger of being lost.
