Learn Faster, Change is Coming
Challenges posed by recent economic and market shifts, though predicted for some time, have instigated chaos in the lives of many business professionals and factory workers alike, not to mention just about everyone else who is paying attention. Instead of embracing change and allowing it to fuel creativity and activity, many people allow the very thought of it to cripple them through fear, indecision and inactivity. Instant world-wide communications have allowed even the smallest changes and the biggest ideas to spread immediately across continents. A new piece of information, transmitted to the world in an instant, can forever change a market, a medical approach, relationships, jobs, products, services or the very need for a product or service. Entire factories and manufacturing processes can be rendered obsolete overnight. Many have been caught off-guard and are not prepared for this escalation and frequency of change. Many people are entering or re-entering the workforce ill-equipped and under-skilled for the constantly evolving career positions becoming available in our modern economy. Time is at a premium. How does one solve the dilemma of needing to read and study a variety of materials to enable one to be a contributing and valuable employee, while finding little free time to prepare for such a career shift? There is an urgent need to accelerate the learning of new skill-sets, but how does one accomplish this feat? What if anyone could learn new material faster than they have ever dreamed possible? What if people could digest change easier and more quickly? Could that have an impact on careers and earnings? Could learning be the solution to the fear of change? If so, then, the ability to learn faster simply makes even better sense. What does everyone want? We want stability. We want security. We want to get ahead. However, we fear change. In light of these observations, we must diligently seek to maximize every learning opportunity, for therein lies our ability to earn more income, gain career stability and to get ahead. Unfortunately, there have been very few accessible tools to enable an increase in our learning rate. The educational establishment has been teaching in the same manner for many years, even though the real world has been demanding an upgrade. Those wanting more have been paying a premium for customized educational services through private companies. What solutions are available for the rest of society? E-books, for instance, are proliferating at an astounding rate. Everything from fiction to technical manuals is available in this exciting format. Most persons are generally in a hurry, busy with a variety of family and work related tasks, with little time available for reading lengthy, conventional, "fat" books. E-books provide a practical alternative offering the tremendous benefits of value, time savings and convenience. Audio books are another great source of information allowing us to multi-task. While busy with another activity, we have the ability to listen to the latest advancements in our field, personal development or even learn a new language. There are a variety of available formats: the dinosaur cassette, CD's and now the MP3 player. I have been listening to audio books for years as I drive, taking advantage of "drive-time university" to further my knowledge and gain information instead of feeding my brain useless material from the radio. Part of my daily workout is a lengthy walk each evening, where you will find me with my CD player "velcro'd" to my sweatshirt feeding me nutritious brain food from a variety of authors and speakers. You can do it too. Continuous learning is a necessity, more important than ever before. The need to learn faster is rapidly becoming more mandatory, as change accelerates around us. Adopt an attitude of learning for profit, whereby your accelerated learning abilities enable you to profit in each and every circumstance. Consider subscribing to the theory of life-long learning, where your education doesn't end in high school or after 2-4 years at college, but continues for life. After all, the entire world and our place in it are quite dynamic. Thanks to technology, each of us has the opportunity to affect an ever expanding segment of the population as well as to be exposed to new ideas and technical advancements from across the globe, all in the blink of an eye. You can count on the fact that this rate of change will continue to escalate and your opportunities will increase. Your ability to take appropriate advantage of these monumentous occurrences however, is a function of your ongoing self-education. Quick response to new information is mandatory. Learning faster is essential. Available information is now doubling every few years and is increasing daily. Our world will continue to grow smaller. Opportunities abound. If you don't have a plan for continuous self-education and learning at an accelerated rate, you will be left behind. So What is Success Anyway? Well I'll tell you what it's not. Even thought many of us like to periodically visit our own personal Fantasyland complete with its mansions, servants, fancy cars and trips to exotic places (check under the heading of "What I Would Do if I Won the Lottery") most of us over the age of twelve with any experience under our belts are realistic enough to recognize our Fantasyland for what it is. A fun place to visit but one sorely lacking in personal fulfillment. Quantum Success Thinking It sounds simple- right? You are where you THINK you are! And it is simple but do we practice it? Of course we are where we think we are! The question is where do YOU think you are? The Secret To Life Long Success And Fulfillment What Makes the Difference? 10 Simple Tips For Attaining Wealth What with the millions of words printed every day about "How To Achieve Success," why aren't there more new millionaires. Life Versus Lifestyle There is a difference but what constitutes a life and what constitutes a lifestyle is pretty ambiguous. One thing that seems pretty clear to me is the lifestyle is observable while a life can have many internal aspects to it. A lifestyle can include people, material things, environments, how we spend our time, energy, and money. A life includes things like our beliefs, our values, our commitments, our soul's dream, and our vision. If you choose a lifestyle first you could wind up with an empty fortress. If you choose the life first, you will design your lifestyle to support the life. Since most of us already have a lifestyle, and a default life, we usually have to do some redesign work. Choose a life and then redesign our lifestyle. It is possible that the lifestyle you currently have will never support the life you truly want to live. It is possible the lifestyle you currently have has many supporting structures and only minor renovations need to occur. It is possible that you are a highly intuitive person and your lifestyle is in perfect alignment. I know very few people who fall into that category. My dad does but what I notice about him, is he and my mother made a conscious decision to structure their lives around their spiritual values. They made that decision early in their marriage and lived true to it. Now it's interesting that my parents are actually old enough to be my grandparents, (my mother is no long living) and I noticed that many earlier generations were not given to having transformational conversations so learning was a very different process then than it is now. The fact that we have e-courses and teleclasses and magazines and tons of books that are created to help people learn to live more meaningful and personally fulfilling lives represents a shift from how things use to be. As we evolve we begin to look at various aspects of our lives for congruence to our values and commitments. The disparity shows up with exclamation marks behind them and sometimes our response is discouragement and self-disappointment. We act as if we should have known better when the truth is how could we have known better? So the first thing to get over is "I didn't know" and then after we get over that we come to "but I know now?now what?" It takes a courageous person to see this and then set their intentions on bringing integrity into their life so that their lifestyle gives them a life that serves their higher self. You will notice some people trying to work around it, pretending it doesn't matter that their lifestyles don't measure up to their core values. The real problem is once you see the inconsistency, not doing anything actually makes things worse and you lose ground really fast. It cost you big time to keep that inconsistency in place. You can't be with yourself and be at peace in your life. It wears you down like water will wear down a mountain over time. Your life will devolve instead of evolve. If that is not a price that's too high to pay, I don't know what is. Just think about it and choose wisely the path you will follow. Of Courage and Greatness Courage is something that is reflected and reciprocated, and is by no means, inherent. When we are ordinary, we are morally ample and when we are surreal, we are audacious. The need for temerity is amplified when we're bound to be representing it and it is lessened when it can be done without. Succinctly, it is material. Don?t Throw the Baby Out with the Bath Water Whenever we have a bad experience or we own up to having a weakness people immediately jump on the band wagon and tell us to work with our weaknesses. "Focus on them until you have overcome them and then you can move on". Risking For Success Everything we do in life involves risk. There's no growth of any kind without risk. We start running risks when we get out of bed in the morning. We take a risk every time we cross the street. Risks are good for us. They bring out the best in us. And, you cannot achieve happiness or success without taking risks. Mind is the Forerunner of All States Our lives and the circumstances we live in are largely the result of our own thoughts and beliefs. The sum total of our thoughts, if they are positive, will result in a positive life for us. The converse is just as true. If we think negatively most of the time, we tend to attract negative circumstances into our life. Falling Up the Stairs There have been a lot of really good movies made over the last several years. There are a lot of bad ones too. And while I try to simply ignore the bad efforts, I like to take lessons from those which have profound messages to share. Among the more noticeable movies I have seen lately, have been the Matrix movies. And, while I don't like everything about the series, I have been totally fascinated by the philosophical questions they have posed. Tools for Constructing the Road to Success Too many times in the pursuit of our dreams, we loose sight of the total picture and instead settle on a small piece of it. A job, any job, whether it is in the conventional job market or any one of a number of work from home ventures all require the same thing - people of vision. The Human Instincts The gambling instinct is in every man or woman. All throughout the ages, people have put a bet on the winners of a cock fight a sword fight, a boxing match, a wrestling match, or any other tyupe of a fight or a match or a horse race. What Am I Going To Do With The Rest Of My Life? Unexpected life changes. Anticipated transitions. Long, sleepless nights. What do these three things have in common? The ability to provoke one of the most haunting questions in the library of human introspectives: What Is Your Legacy of Success? Success! Easy to talk about, but difficult to achieve. Or is it? Success is defined differently by virtually anyone you ask because success is a very personal experience. Is your definition of success based on the values, dreams and beliefs of others? How often do people strive for accomplishments that will show they are "successful" yet they are left spiritually and emotionally lost? Abundance Creating Resources You Already Have You already have all the resources you need to accomplish all the things you want to achieve. Sound too good to be true, doesn't it? Fact is, it is true. You do have all the resources you need. All of them. The questions are: how broad is your awareness of these resources which resources are we talking of here? and, for which needs? There are countless resources that each individual possesses. It would be nigh impossible and self-defeating to attempt to discuss and highlight even a quarter of these resources in a short discourse as this one. Let us take a look at a few of the resources you already have to accomplish all the things you want to achieve: Creating Vision You have probably heard it before, or you may even have said it yourself. "Where there is no vision, the people perish". In the absence of a compelling vision, people tend to be stuck in their present circumstances. They wallow in a 'comfort zone' and drift from self-pity to anxiety and anger. Where there is no vision people perish. Vision is neither wishful thinking, nor is it an expression of hope or a modified form of day-dreaming. Vision is the rare ability of standing in the future and looking at the past as it unfolded. While you are standing there, you make decisions from that 'future' (instead of from pressing present circumstances). For some vision is the ability to outline a point of convergence related to their personal focus. This means determining and acknowledging ahead of fact, the destination of one's efforts. How To Improve Communications With Those Who Were Difficult To Communicate With In The Past You talked but didn't get a response. You talked but you got a negative response. Has this happened to you often? All the time? Occasionally? Never? Well if you have experienced it more often then you care to admit then maybe it's time to find out why. What Does YOUR Success Look Like? What does success look like to you? Our culture often defines success as money, fame, power ? something between a Pepsi ad and a car commercial. But success is more than financial rewards, the "right" car, or the "right" job. The news is full of stories of "successful" people sabotaging themselves with poor choices. Obviously fame and money were not enough to make them feel successful in their hearts. For success to matter it needs to be on your own terms. Create Your Future Through Visualization The best way to predict your future is to create it. All high-achieving men and women take full control of their lives, and if they don't find the opportunities they want , they create them. Thoughts on Successful People I was hired to do some training for a sales team from one of the largest companies in America. There were 16 people on this team. This year their sales (for the 16 of them) will be 250 million - that's right, a quarter of a billion - dollars! Needless to say, it was an excellent and fascinating time. I decided to learn a little bit myself so I watched them closely to see what kind of people they were and to see what common denominators they shared. Below is what I found. I think you will find the elements applicable to your own life. Plan to Succeed Have you ever made plans in your career but never fulfilled them? Or have you fulfilled a plan but found that you have gone in the wrong direction? |
